Welcome to New Street Dental Care

Hello, I’m Julian I have wanted to be a dentist since I was 9 years old!

I live in Andover and I have finally achieved my dream; to build a modern dental practice for both myself and my two daughters who run New Street Dental Care with me.

I wanted to run a practice with care and quality being of most importance and making sure we keep that personal touch for our patients so as I could provide great service, support and patient care with my daughters by my side.

We are passionate about providing the best dental care for you so that you enjoy the best possible dental health throughout your life.

My daughters are Chloe and Clarissa who have also dedicated their work to looking after our community and further afield. We work as a way of life as we all love our dentistry!

Our team has an emphasis on preventative care to help you minimise the need for active treatments. We follow the modern principle of minimal intervention dentistry to ensure our work lasts for many years. It is carried out in a caring and supportive environment.

Let me introduce you to our team….

The Pride of Andover Awards makes sure we all know about our town’s unsung heroes; the people who make such a big difference to so many lives but who are so often ‘just getting on with it’.

With a range of different categories, the awards honour outstanding citizens in the local community as a way of saying ‘thank you’ to everyone living or working in Andover and the surrounding villages.

Our Leads

Tecla Oliver

Lead Dental Nurse

“I had a huge interest in dentistry since my early teens and had decided then that this was the career path I wanted to take. I have now been a dental nurse for over 14 years, qualifying in 2013.

I joined New Street Dental Care before the official opening in 2015 and welcomed our very first patients through the door! Since then, I have gained valuable experience, achieved my certificate in Dental Radiography for dental care professionals and become the practice Lead Dental Nurse.

I have also built a great rapport with our routine patients, but I do enjoy meeting new people and helping in their dental journey. It has been incredible to see the progression of the practice and see our small team turn into a ‘dental family’.

In my free time, I am either at the gym, spending time with my family or catching up with friends.”

Georgina Armer

Lead Dental Receptionist

“I have been a part of New Street Dental Care for just over 8 years, previously having worked with the NHS.

I have seen first-hand the benefits private dentistry can offer. Here at New Street, we are fortunate to have the most up to date modern technology and equipment to ensure we can provide the best possible service to all our patients.

My favourite part of the job is the patient’s journey. For many people dentistry is by far one of their biggest fears, I understand this and that even the thought of making that first initial contact can be quite a traumatic experience.

I and my team, recognise that no patient is the same, we are empathetic to patients needs and continue to reassure them every step of the way. It is lovely to see the change from that first day, when they nervously walk through the door, to the proud beaming smile they give when they leave, knowing that they have finally conquered that fear!”

Reception Team

Judy Fryers

Dental Receptionist

“Having worked for many years in a private practice in London, I took a career break to have my two children, always knowing that at some point I would go back to the job I love.

Working with the New Street Dental team is amazing! I’ve always loved being responsible for the care of our patients and I have found the perfect practice with the perfect team!”

Kelly Curd

Dental Receptionist

“I started working at New Street Dental Care as a receptionist in 2022, after a 15 year gap of working, looking after my children.

I was very nervous to be starting a new job after such a long absence, but New Street is one big family. Everyone leans on and helps one another as a team. And our common goal is to make our patients feel safe, comfortable and respected throughout the whole journey from start to finish.”

Emma Curd

Dental Receptionist

“I love working at New Street Dental Care because of how much it cares for it’s staff and it’s patients.”

Harriet Smith

Dental Receptionist

” I started working at New Street Dental Care in September 2023. I always found dentistry so fascinating and I hope I can gain more knowledge to become a Dental Nurse in the future. I love seeing patients grow from being really nervous when they first come into the practice to being confident with their smile.
In my own time, I enjoy playing the piano, running and spending quality time with family and friends. “

Our Patient Care Coordinators

Our Care Coordinators can be with you every step of the way and are here to listen to you. They can help you understand the process of your dental treatment if you feel you cannot discuss everything you wish with your Dentist or Hygiene Therapist. This can be for many reasons, sometimes you remember questions to ask when you are home, or you are worried about asking some questions as you feel embarrassed. Some patients also feel more comfortable discussing costs this way. Abi and Hollie will assist you to make sure everything will be made clear about your treatment plan, just remember, they are only a phone call away.

Abi Holloway

Patient Care Coordinator

“I started my dental career 13 years ago as a trainee dental nurse. I am now a patient care coordinator and qualified dental nurse with previous experience as a practice manager.

My role as patient care coordinator means I am able to use my years of knowledge and skills to help and support patients through their dental journey.

I’m quite a creative person so I usually spend my spare time crafting or enjoying family time (aka chasing around after my two boys!)”

Our Nursing Team

Olivia Richardson

Dental Nurse

“I started my career in dentistry after becoming a trainee dental nurse 5 years ago. My favourite part about being a dental nurse is how rewarding it is seeing patients happy and comfortable after their treatment, especially if they have come in feeling anxious.

I particularly enjoy nursing during oral surgery and aesthetics especially when patients really see the difference the treatment makes. I am currently extending my knowledge by doing a radiography course.

New Street Dental Care isn’t just a dental practice, it’s a big family and everyone sticks together and is always on hand to help.

Shannon Durrans

Dental Nurse

“I knew I wanted to be a nurse when I visited Portsmouth Hospital with my medical science class at college. After looking around the hospital and seeing how rewarding it is to be a nurse, I knew from then on that this is where I wanted to start my career.

I chose dental nursing as I have always been happy to go to the dentist but there are lots of patients who are really apprehensive and anxious and I knew that I would be able to reassure people and put them at ease.

I also wanted to learn and understand the science of dentistry to allow me to progress in my future career. From my apprenticeship, I gain a broad range of skills by supporting the team in all aspects of patient care as well as proudly gaining my nursing qualification.”

Rekha Thapa

Dental Nurse

“I was working in hospitality for the last 12 years. When Covid struck, Hospitality wasn’t doing well I was unemployed for nearly 2 years during that time when I decided to some courses so, I chose dental nursing because I have heard it‘s very interesting and rewarding.
As I have worked for a long time in customer service, I knew that I would be able to reassure people and look after them in an efficient manner.
Then, I started my dental nursing journey. Started as a trainee dental nurse which I enjoyed thoroughly. I was very nervous at the beginning as it was a huge career change for me . But on other hand, I was learning so much in the world of dentistry which is very interesting. I get to experience a broad range of skills by supporting the team in all aspects of patient care . I enjoyed clinical knowledge from the clinicians and nurses.
Therefore, after supportive guidance from everyone I became a Registered Dental Nurse. I am very happy and proud of what I am doing. I take pride in looking after my patients.”

Kensey Armer

Trainee Dental Nurse

“I started working as a dental receptionist here in January 2021 just after everywhere started to re-open after the COVID lockdowns. I previously did a degree in Music and Musical Theatre as this was my only passion and what I was trained for but I could not go back to this due to the pandemic.

However, throughout my time on reception, I noticed how much I enjoyed gaining clinical knowledge from the clinicians and nurses. I surprised myself with the confidence and skills I was picking up by being on reception and I was moved by patient reactions when they came out of surgery, no longer nervous or in pain.

Therefore, after supportive guidance from my leads and practice manager, I decided to become a dental nurse. I am so grateful to be where I am now, we truly are like a family who supports each other every single day to achieve our goals and keep our patients safe and happy.

You can have so many different passions and skills – the only limit is yourself!”

Mariola Burzych

“I love my job as a dental nurse. I enjoy working with my colleagues who are friendly and happy, which makes work an enjoyable place to be.

Seeing patients happy and helping our team achieve this throughout their journey, creates huge job satisfaction for me.”

My passion for helping patients maintain optimal oral health drives me to provide the highest level of care and support. I understand that a visit to the dentist can be a source of anxiety for many and my primary focus is on ensuring the best possible experience for our patients. I am well-versed in assisting with various dental procedures, including oral surgery, maintaining infection control standards, and ensuring patient comfort.

I take pride in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, where patients can express their concerns and ask questions without hesitation.
