Decontamination Suite - New Street Dental Care

Decontamination Suite

Preventing the spread of infection is of the utmost importance to us. For this reason we have very carefully installed the best equipment to clean, decontaminate and sterilise our instruments. There are many regulations and guidelines that we are required to follow and we have chosen to conform to what is called “best practice”. This means that our decontamination process is higher than “essential practice”, higher than “good practice” and is set at the best and most effective way to clean instruments!

Cross infection is the term given to harmful micro-organisms being transmitted from one person to another due to poor or no protection. For example; using the same set of instruments on more than one patient is cross-infection. Cross-infection can occur in a number of ways and take a number of different routes.

It is very important that we prevent and minimize cross-infection as much as possible by:

  • Wearing and asking the patient to wear PPE
  • Disinfecting worktops and equipment
  • Sterilising instruments correctly

Here is a step by step guide to show you the lengths we go to in order to ensure our instruments are sterilised to the highest possible standard
